Anchored in experience,built with AI

Oleron Labs exists because we got tired of waiting for our own ideas.

For years we planned software with clients, friends and allies across the industry: tools we knew legal teams needed, sketched in meetings and parked because traditional development made them too slow and too expensive to build. With AI now part of how we work, we can take those ideas from plan to working software in a fraction of the time of a traditional development cycle. So we started building.

Where the name comes from

Eight centuries ago, Atlantic trade ran on custom and argument. Ships crossed between foreign coasts without shared rules, disputes stalled cargo, and every voyage carried risk nobody could price.

The Rolls of Oléron changed that. Written in the late 1100s by most accounts, they set down the working customs of the sea trade in a clear, practical form that a ship's master and a merchant could both rely on. They became the oldest and best-known sea law of Northwestern Europe, and most of the sea laws that followed in Northern Europe were built on them.

The Rolls didn't invent new rules. They wrote down the ones that worked, plainly. We chose the name as a tribute to that piece of legal innovation, and as a description of the job.

What we do with it

Legal teams today face their own open water: growing volumes of data, shifting regulation, and processes held together by habit. We don't limit ourselves to one niche. We work across the full span of legal technology, connecting information governance to the whole EDRM, so data is handled with care from the day it's created to the day it's produced.

Our foundation is more than 20 years of eDiscovery, complex document handling and enterprise data management. We know what it takes to organize, process and protect the world's most sensitive data.

Why AI

We've gone all in on AI, as a force multiplier rather than a replacement. It works alongside our own team and our partners' teams. Pairing decades of domain experience with current AI lets us simplify complex workflows, surface what matters sooner and deliver faster, with people making the calls that need judgment.

Eight hundred years ago, the Rolls of Oléron gave sea trade a clearer way to work. Oleron Labs builds the software that does the same for legal work.
